Analysing public space in Botkyrka Municipality
During the fall of 2019, Living Cities were given the opportunity to do a public space analysis of the areas of central Tumba and Storvreten on behalf of Botkyrka municipality. The focus of the public space analysis was partly to do mapping of social values and opportunities for equal meetings in the public space. On the one hand, there was a focus on analysing how the social cohesion between the two districts could be strengthened.
Our method included observational studies, spontaneous conversations and site visits, as well as Emotion mapping walks with residents as participants. Our frequent presence in the area and the contact we had with residents and local players during the assignment gave us invaluable insights and knowledge. The result of the public space analysis presented proposals for objectives, courses of action and concrete measures, which are feasible in both the short and the long term. The result of the public space analysis will be used by the municipality as a basis for prioritizing action paths and efforts in Tumba's development program and partly for strategic choices of the municipality's long-term development of Tumba. |
