A pedestrian street at Östra StorgatanLiving Cities has done an evaluation of the process and stakeholders’ experiences when a city street was temporarily transformed into a pedestrian area during the summer in Jönköping.
The temporary transformations of public areas, also called tactical urbanism, is a strategy used by the municipality to make unique environments accessible to a new crowd and improve city gathering places. The evaluation engaged local stakeholders such as visitors, businesses and residents to understand experiences, benefits and challenges. Surveys, structured individual interviews, literature and communication analysis were among the methods we used. |
